06/18/2009: I saw the movie first, and, like always, the book was way better. I love sci-fi/fantasy thrillers. This book is definately a guilty pleasure book, I would not recommend this book for book clubs because it doesn't really foster in-depth discussion. The endless action and suspense was awesome. A little short for my liking, though.

05/26/2009: If you have seen the movie I am legend and left with a feeling that the movie was incomplete the book will explain that feeling. I think the story is compelling and the writing is adequate, but Matheson just gives up when the story is reaching it's most compelling. Following I Am Legend there is a collection of short stories that are in a word "strange". They are enjoyable, but in a very unusual way. This book is definitely not for everyone.
