    Synopsis

A dazzling novel in the most untraditional fashion, this is the remarkable story of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures the two lovers in an impossibly romantic trap, and it is Audrey Niffenegger's cinematic storytelling that makes the novel's unconventional chronology so vibrantly triumphant.

An enchanting debut and a spellbinding tale of fate and belief in the bonds of love, The Time Traveler's Wife is destined to captivate readers for years to come.

    USA Today

… Niffenegger, despite her moving, razor-edged prose, doesn't claim to be a romantic. She writes with the unflinching yet detached clarity of a war correspondent standing at the sidelines of an unfolding battle. She possesses a historian's eye for contextual detail. This is no romantic idyll. — Kathy Balog

12/01/2009: The Time Traveler's Wife is so far the best book I've ever read. Unlike many love stories - and believe me, I have read quite a few - this story is original, smart and creative. It is beautifully written, and as soon as you finish it, you will want to read it again, because the second time around you will see it in a completely different way.

I didn't think it would be good when I first saw it at the store, it was only by chance that somebody forgot it at work and I started reading it. Now I wonder why I didn't read it before. It is my favorite love story yet.

11/29/2009: This book was exactly what I needed. I fell in love with every character and was unexpectdly moved by the story. I reccomend it to anyone with a need for a fresh love story and a dazzling plot. The writing was enticing and untouchable and held the reader's interest with its constant twists and trips back through time. The innocence of Clare as a young girl brought me to tears, and Henry's growing affection for her left me breathless. This story truly moved me in ways that I would never have predicted. Start it on a day when you can devote hours of uncombatted attention to it, for it truly is a book that you will not want to put down.
