    Synopsis

The greatest superpower of all isn't to be part spider, part man, or to cast magic spells — the greatest power is the power to create.

    Daniel has that power.

Daniel's secret abilities — like being able to manipulate objects and animals with his mind or to recreate himself in any shape he chooses — have helped him survive. But Daniel doesn't have a normal life. He is the protector of the earth, the Alien Hunter, with a mission beyond what anyone could imagine.

From the day that his parents were brutally murdered in front of his very eyes, Daniel has used his unique gifts to hunt down their assassin. Finally, with the help of The List bequeathed to him in his parents' dying breath, he has located the killer.

Now, on his own, he vows to take on his father's mission—and to have vengeance in the process.

    Publishers Weekly

Patterson jumps on the superheroes bandwagon with contributor Ledwidge and delivers the adventures of Daniel X, a superpowered alien whose mission is to defend Earth from more malignant, threatening aliens. In his first adventure, listeners hear the typical origin story (parents killed by the most vile alien on Earth), his early adventures (growing up on his own with amazing powers) and his first real step into manhood (facing off against another alien). The story throws in a few interesting twists, but isn't particularly dynamic as superhero narratives go. The production is sparsely sprinkled with sound effects, which work quite well and add to the story, but there is a lack of consistency to their execution. However, Milo Ventimiglia makes it worth the listen. His timing and inflection match perfectly with Daniel, the first-person protagonist. He sounds youthful enough to be believable as Daniel and easily transitions to other character voices within the story. A Little, Brown hardcover. (July)

12/06/2009: "The Dangerous Days of Daniel X" by: James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge

Daniel X is just a teenage boy who so happens to be an alien. Daniel has an amazing power. His power is to create. He can create human, breathing creatures. He can also change into all the different animals from a huge elephant to a tiny tick. Daniel is also an alien hunter. At the age of three Daniel's parents were killed by a big praying mantis with dread locks-looking creature. They were killed because the father wouldn't give him "the list" which is a list of alien out-laws. The only way Daniel got out of it was turning into a tick. Later on in his life he went back to the house to get the list. When he found it he decided to follow his father's footsteps into fighting bad aliens. After defeating an alien he goes under cover by renting a house and entering high school, because number six who is Urgent Seth is around there. He meets the love of his life that turns out to be trouble. While looking for her he gets captured by Urgent Seth and gets into huge trouble. The story takes place on Earth (Tera Firma) and on Daniels planet. The time this takes place is the present. The theme of this novel is that Daniel X hunts aliens. This book is related to Maximum Ride also by James Patterson, because they both have a lot of action in it. I am a lot like Daniel's Friend Emma, because we both love animals, and would hate to see any harm come to them. I loved this book because there was a bunch of action in it, also because I like sci-fi. I suggest you read this book.

I would Love to be Abducted by this Book!!by Anonymous

12/01/2009: This book (Daniel X) is a suspensful, action- packed thriller. It's a great way to spend your free time and always leaves you on the edge of your seat!! I also had many connections with Daniel. He was very lonley in some parts of the book. I remember when I was alone and didn't have anyone there for me either. Or when he wants revenge on the person that kiiled his WHOLE PLANET. I haven't lost my planet, but I have felt the urge of revenge sneeking up on me...

This story is about Daniel X, who is an alien hunter. He hunts down aliens all around the world and eliminates them. His mother and father were mudered by number one, The Prayer. On his way to defeating The Prayer, he stops by L.A. and foes after number six, Ergent Seth. After being warned to turn back many times, he is finally captured by Seth. For all the rest, you'll have to read to find out!!!

I Also Recommend: Maximum Ride: The Final Warning, Maximum Ride: MAX, Watch the Skies (Daniel X Series #2), Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment, Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment.
