Gail Morgan

This book is an updated edition of patient care for the imaging technologist. The previous edition was 1993. This publication covers major topics, including safety, vital signs, medical and surgical asepsis, pharmacology, and special procedures. The intent of this book is to educate the radiology student in the ever-expanding field of patient care. This edition updates current information and includes a wide range of topics that are critical for good patient care. Radiology students are the targeted audience for this publication; however, it is an excellent reference for educators and registered technologists as well. This text features excellent illustrations and diagrams that are easily followed. The expanded area of pharmacology in this book gives additional information that is extremely important in the complete scope of patient care. I found this text to be extremely thorough and well written. Each chapter in this edition is organized and follows a logical sequence. The illustrations are well done and enhance the text. The critical thinking questions at the end of each section encourage the reader to use their problem-solving skills. The topics in this book that could have been covered in greater detail were tuberculosis and hepatitis; although HIV was discussed in detail, these were not. After reviewing this book and evaluating its educational material, I've found it to be a valuable source of information. I plan to use this edition for the main text in my patient care class.
