    Synopsis

Every year the Realm has a great festival, called the Night of Wishes, when Queen Helena puts on the precious Star Cloak and by its magic is able to grant wishes. This year, though, there's a problem: it's the night before the festival, and Giff the elf has accidentally damaged the Cloak!

Jessie knows that to save the Night of Wishes, she must get the Star Cloak repaired by the night-dwelling star fairies of Stardust Mountain, the makers of the Cloak and the only ones who are able to fix it. She doesn't have much time — can she save the Realm's special night?

    Debbie West - Children's Literature

Jessie returns in this "Fairy Realm" series book filled with excitement and surprises. Book 7 begins on Wish Night, the one night of the year when all the stars shine and everyone's wishes can come true. But Giff, a mischievous elf, has torn the magic star cloak, which Queen Helena has to wear on Wish Night. He enlists the help of Jessie, granddaughter of the queen's sister. Jessie returns to the Realm but Giff gets lost on the way. With the help of the fairies, this one-in-fifty-years handmade cloak is mended in time for Wish Night. But the star cloak ends up in Jessie's mother's giveaway basket for school charity. Through her wits, Jessie manages to retrieve the cloak and return it safely to the queen fairy. When Wish Night arrives, Jessie makes her one wish—to bring Giff back safely to the Realm. Jessie also gets a bonus when her story is chosen as winner of the school's writing contest, much to her teacher's surprise. Jessie's teacher thinks fiction writing is a waste of talent. Little does she know that Jessie's stories are actually true. 2005, HarperCollins Children's Books, Ages 7 to 10.
