    Synopsis

Excellent for parents.. Teachers also benefit.

    Cathi I. White - Children's Literature

Emotions are sometimes hard to describe to young children so that they understand. However, in this book simple, easy words are used to show children what emotions are. Positive feelings like being cheerful, being proud, and being happy are described. Other words that express negative feelings are used as well. Some of these words are sad, lonely, and afraid. Children will see by the colorful illustrations how these feelings are shown. Parents and children can use this easy-to-read book to talk about the child's feelings and how to communicate them. Children will enjoy looking at the bright illustrations and may relate to the different emotions that are revealed. In the back of the book there are some emotion exercises for the parents and children to do. This book is part of the "I am Your …" series. It would be excellent for parents to use with their young children. Teachers would also benefit from using this easily understood book in the classroom. 2006, I Am Your Playground, Ages 5 to 8.

The bright, colorful illustrations really caught their attention, and the text helped my class understand how different emotions and feelings are portrayed.
