When
a person loves someone with bipolar disorder, life can be very stressful. From
medication troubles to a partner’s mood swings the demands on a partner can be
intense. “Loving Someone with Bipolar Disorder” takes a unique and practical
approach to these issues.
Written
by an author who has bipolar disorder (and who lived with a partner who also has
bipolar disorder) and a coauthor with over ten books on the topic of mental
illness, the book offers specific, practical and realistic tips on how a couple
can work together as a team to create a treatment plan that teaches them to live
with the illness while still maintaining a loving and joyful relationship. (Although this book is written for
couples, friends and family members can use the techniques in the book as well.)

01/05/2008: I loved it. I recommend any outsider who is getting close to 'close family, best friends...' or romantically interested in a Bipolar to read this book. After reading it, I actually decided that if they really think they are interested, they need to read it first. It gives a reality check on what will come and how to deal with it- both medicated and not. The depth on how to manage, prevent, re-gain control, and the reality of the damage that can result was great. I felt there was true insight for someone as to what comes with bipolar disorder- and the honest reality of whether or not they would be willing to attempt the needed effort. A

11/19/2007: This book was excellent to read. Most everything out there on bipolar disorder and what it is like dealing with those who suffer with BP is horrible and negative. This book is positive and loving. Definitely recommend it!
