    Synopsis

Sitting in the Storybook Chair, in Grandma's arms, you can go anywhere!
From deserts to forests, and up through the sky -- come along on one granddaughter's adventure, and ride the wave of words as reading takes her and her grandma 'round the world!

    Children's Literature

Lucky are those children who have grandmothers, and especially those who live close enough to spend time with their grandparents. This grandma has gray hair, but otherwise looks pretty sprightly in her red and white flowered dress and black pumps. She and her granddaughter are enjoying a book in grandma's big rocking chair. And as we know, books can transport readers anywhere. Katz shows us clearly in her fanciful illustrations that the two can soar through the sky, explore the jungle, visit fantasy worlds with dragons, enjoy forests of candy, and even swim the seas with dolphins. It is a paean to both the power of books and the warm relationship between generations—and grandmothers whose warm arms provide a safe and wonderful haven. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

02/17/2009: My toddler was addicted to this book that she actually brought it to her crib at bedtime. It's an adorable, colorful book that rhymes well. It's a great way to include real Grandma during visits. My daughter pointed out the animals and associated the glasses on Grandma's to the one in the book and kissed the page where Grandma gives a goodnight kiss to the little girl.
