Not computer games--though designers could learn from Seirawan. This is the first non-computer book we've seen from Microsoft (is Gates a chess nerd?). Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

He is a four-time U.S Champion, the 1989 Western Hemisphere Champion, and a ten-time member of the U.S. chess Olympiad team. 09/23/2008: This is a book on fundamental tactical themes which play a critical part in almost every game played at all levels. I personally feel that advanced beginners and mid range players (players rated 800 to 1500 - a somewhat wide range) should have a heavy study focusing on tactical problems and with a heavy dose of chess opening traps (I like to see tactics directly applied to common situations - and a great place to start is early in the game). Though, opening chess traps is not the focus of this book, it does present a generally rounded number of tactical themes.
