    Synopsis

    Bianca wants to escape.

She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in.

Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him.

"I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would."

But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

    Children's Literature

Bianca Olivier dislikes Evernight Academy, a boarding school for high school students, from the first moment she sees it. Bianca feels trapped. She knows that since her parents plan to teach there, they will turn deaf ears to her pleadings not to make her attend. During a feeble attempt to run away, she meets in the woods another new student, Lucas Ross, and is immediately attracted to him. Since she doesn't have a well-thought-out escape plan, after talking with Lucas, Bianca reluctantly returns to her parents and begins classes in her new school. Bianca does not feel that she fits in. She spends all her time hoping to see Lucas. Another student, Balthazar, proves to be friendly and even invites her to the upcoming Autumn Ball. It is the night of the ball, and without any foreshadowing, that Bianca's true nature is revealed. During the second half of the book, Bianca is constantly torn between the world of vampires and the world of would-be vampire slayers. Young adult readers who are drawn to young romance, boarding schools and adventures with vampires will be caught up in this smoothly written tale It is the first of a planned quartet of books featuring Bianca Olivier. 11/03/2009: The over all story was simple and easy to follow. It was slow moving in the begining but picked up the pace half way through. Sadly, I read a review which spoiled it for me by giving an important detail away even before I read the book. So what was meant to be a surprise, wasn't. Had it not been for that, I think I would have enjoyed the book a lot more than what I did. I realize there is a sequel... and when I get a chance I'll read it, but nor am I running to the book store to go get it. I hope that whenever I read Stargazer--Evernight's sequel--that book with have more depth and detail to make up for what the 1st book didn't. My only negative about Evernight is that the whole **** thing seems like an afterthought taking second place to the relationship the MC has with her love interest. It seems like the author, wrote a love story and then to give it a little more umph, put **** in it. Anyway... My advice is, be careful with the reviews that you read, if not, some could ruin the experience that is Evernight. BTW, the **** are so I wouldn't spoil it for you.

I Also Recommend: Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely Series #1), Stargazer (Evernight Academy Series #2), Under the Blood Red Moon, The Twilight Saga Collection, Blood and Chocolate.

10/29/2009: Ok, to be honest this book was like a challenge for me, coz i sat down and tried to read it many times...but the first part of the book is kind of slow, so i eventually get tired and left it right there...but then i encourage myself and finally end up! well, let me say that i didn´t regret after i finished, coz i was anxious for more!!!! yeah the book makes you feel like you need more, more of that really complicated love story, where the trust and the love, the family and the beliefs are being tested all the time.... after twilight all that i wanted was more vampires stories, and in this special book i found something that made it unique.... what happens when the roles are invested and it all will depend on a emotional and full of hormones woman, that is about to death and rebirth???

just wow....now you wanna more, right???

Read and you will like it....if not, you can always complain to me...
