An ancient line of witches . . .
An undying love . . .
A coming revolution . . .
One woman in the center of it all . . .
London, England. Mysterious. Beautiful. Full of legends and lore. It is home and a safe place for Amelia Pivens Kreutzer. For an ancient society of witch hunters, and practitioners, it is an easy place to go unnoticed. And for Scotland Yard's Denny Carlisle, on All Hallows Eve, when the Full Blood Moon reaches its highest point in the sky, it will become a city of awe and mayhem as the most powerful witch in modern history rises to avenge her lost love and forever end the ancient war among the witches and those who hunt them.
Blood Moon is the first book in A.W. Gryphon's Witches Moon Series.
Blood Moon, by A.W.Gryphon, is a wonderfully engaging story that will pull you in and become incredibly believable. Gryphon has woven a love story,a mystery,a timeless tale that all readers can relate to into an intriguing storyline that not only is readable to anyone, it is close enough to real life for a witch to read and be able to enjoy without having to self-edit untruths. There are no hocus pocus, lightning bolts from fingertips, love spells or cackling within these pages. The first thing that struck me was how seamlessly the ideas and ritual of being a witch are explained in the story itself. The main character, Amelia, starts out as a young girl and her story quickly changes from just a day to a drama that follows her throughout her life. This is not just about a story about being a witch. Gryphon has provided enough twists and turns to keep even the most clever mystery reader guessing the outcome. The best mysteries are those that connect all the story's threads and leave you wanting more. Blood Moon is certainly that sort of story. I would recommend reading this book. It is a great escape, as fiction should be. It is also wonderful to read a book full of what we witches already know in our lives: spellwork, balance, the power of history and the connection between what is and what will become. Blood Moon by A.W. Gryphon, belongs on every witch's bookshelf. It is not everyday that a book can be a work of fiction and still have such strong ties to reality in it that I find myself feeling pulled into the story because of the familiarity of the subject. Especially since the subject is witchcraft.

11/04/2009: Blood Moon moves. This is good story telling. I'm a romance writer who loves a good vampire, witch or ghost story. Gryphon nails it. The set up is very involved. It's packed with interesting historical information about Pagan practice and witchcraft. The prologue is a lot to take in, but I urge you to take it in. It's setting you up for a page turning read. If you like Dan Brown's style and Ann Rice's characters read this book. If you're looking for Hemmingway, keep looking. This is a book written by an author who is also a movie screenwriter. She sets you up, straps you in and takes you on a non-stop emotional, witchcraft filled journey driven by a female hero that will lift your spirits and rip your heart out. This book moves as fast as a movie and the style gives you a visual clear as day. This is a good one. I'm looking forward to what Gryphon is going to come out with next.
