Thoroughly updated for its Fourth Edition, BRS Physiology is an excellent aid for students preparing for the USMLE Step 1. The book concisely reviews key physiological principles and includes clinical correlations throughout to emphasize connections between basic physiology and clinical medicine. Numerous illustrations, tables, and flow charts help students visualize material quickly and aid in long-term retention. End-of-chapter USMLE-style questions and a comprehensive end-of-book exam test the student's problem-solving skills, and clearly explained answers guide the student through the correct steps in reasoning. This edition features increased coverage of pathophysiology, new questions, and a new two-color design and artwork.

02/10/2009: As any other student in a medical program, I am a bust person. For me, this book was a much loved, dog-eared & adored must have. I can never understand the need for a 3,000 page required text for one class, or a series of a few lectures, that you'll never have the time to read all of anyway--never mind carry out of your house! This was an excellent book. It's succinct, organized & portable. You'll never need to highlight either because all of the "fluff" has been eliminated. I did very well in this course because of this book. However, if you are the kind of person that needs a lot of pictures to describe concepts and a lot of the "fluff", then this book is not for you--sorry, but YEAH for those of us that like the short and sweet version!

02/15/2008: This book is incredibly concise and readable. I use it as a companion for the textbook we use in class which is not concise and is very complex 'which makes it a cool course'. If you are also in a Human Physiology course for pre-med, pre-nursing and want to enhance your class notes or prepare for either a multiple choice test or like me, multiple essay exams, buy this book. In a recent exam, I was one of the only two students who earned an 'A', the other student who also did so used this book on my advice. You will not be disappointed.
