01/15/2008: At last a gym workout for those who do not normally find themselves...well, in a gym. This book is for the novice to experienced runner who is looking to gain an edge on race day. While vanity is not likely the endstate for those who might purchase this book, you will notice a pronounced difference with your body. Pluses: Workout plans take the athelete from endurance/fat burning to strength and power training over a thirteen week process. Workouts are challenging, and vary for the individual based on current physical ability, training preference, and schedule. Minus: The claim that this book provides a year's worth of workouts is misleading, since the focus of the workouts is during the 'off season.'
