Based on the classic 1946 movie, this story follows Tommy Bailey through childhood as he and the familiar townspeople of Bedford Falls embody all the values of the film. Doug Jones's illustrations "nicely convey the tale's old-fashioned wholesomeness." School Library Journal
Jimmy Hawkins, who played Tommy Bailey in the 1946 film It's a Wonderful Life, brings that story to a new generation in his It's a Wonderful Life for Kids!, illus. by Douglas B. Jones. Vintage illustrations re-create the ambience of the film's time period, while the tale zeroes in on Tommy as the main character, rather than George, his father, played by Jimmy Stewart. 12/05/2008: The original film is a classic. This book brings the story to a child's level and expresses very worthwhile ideals. The illustrations are delightful! It is a lovely book for children to read themselves, or for adults to read to children.

12/08/2006: I loved the movie and sat with my family when I was young and watched it. I now have my own family and we all watch it together. But its difficult to tell my kids 6 and 7 about banking and Building and Loans. So to have this wonderful book told where my kids can understand it is a real plus. They get the message that even at their young ages they can make a difference. They loved the illustrations too. What a treat. As a parent I felt I was in Bedford Falls when I turned each page to read it along with them. They liked seeing someone their own age experiencing what life would be like if they weren't around. It was new and different yet true to the original film. It will be a treasure in our home forever. My husband loved it too.
