    Synopsis

This book details the lives and careers of fifteen women whose crimes have, at one time or another, stained the pages of history. Parricide, fratricide and, most terrible of all, infanticide; murder under trust; serial murder, including the stalking and killing of men; torture, persecution, massacre and judicial murder; sexually motivated killings; murders for gain or to conceal other crimes- all these and others are detailed in this fascinating study of the manifestation of true evil in women over some 2,000 years. From Roman empresses to jealous daughters and bored housewives, they have all been responsible for terrible crimes.

12/16/2008: This book oversimplifies the issue of women and violence. It ignores the fact that most of the women in prison for murder are there for killing abusive spouses, or other men, in self-defense. It is my opinion that, if the authors did their research, many women in this sensationalistic volume would fall into that category.

09/09/2004: it shows a side of women rarely expressed in todays media and world. women are the home maker, mother, wife, but women also have a dark side that is shown in this thrilling and a little disturbing book. at times i found it hard to read becasue of the discription of the crimes yet it was very captivating. so if you have the time i would deffinetly recommend it. if u are into dark kinds of non-fiction books.
