08/21/2005: I'm a U.S. trained emergency physician with good clinical skills, but limited tropical medicine exposure. Used this book on a short term mission trip to Rwanda. It's compact and travels well. This book is very well organized. The first section of the book deals with syndromic presentations. The book also helps the clinician make decisions in situations with limited resources. The second half of the book gives most of the disease-specific details a clinician will need in treating patients. There are several pages of helpful pictures. More of these would be great in future additions. Overall a remarkable accomplishment. My thanks to the authors.
