10/18/2009: I only like to invest in buying books with quality stories for my six year old's library. "The Country Bunny" definitely qualifies! The story, which was first published 70 years ago (!!), is timeless. It does not have what I call the "chew up and spit out", glitzy feel of a lot of books written for children today. Kids actually have to sit still and pay attention to the story for more than five minutes to appreciate its beauty.
Being a mom of a little girl, I value strong female characters in literature. The protagonist of this story is a wonderful role model. Now you'll just have to read the book and find out why...
