Sit and Knit a Spell
You'll soon be knitting enchanting things you didn't know were within your powers. Charmed Knits offers dozens of patterns for items that evoke the mystique of Harry Potter - a Wizard Robe, an Invisibility Shawl, a Quidditch Sweater, Ron's Ragg Raglan, a Clock Blanket, Harry Christmas Ornaments, and more. Easy-to-follow patterns, color photos of the finished projects, and illustrations of special stitch patterns and design elements make it easy for all knitters - from beginners to those at Mrs. Weasley's level - to work knitting magic. Charmed Knits whisks you away on a wonderful journey. Along the way, you can pick patterns inspired by the Weasleys, stock up at Diagon Alley, show your house colors, conjure up gifts, or create pieces to help you feel at home in the magical world of Harry Potter.
Harry Potter aficionados and those who knit for them will love the 28 knitwear designs ranging in difficulty from an ambitious Clock Blanket reminiscent of the timepiece that keeps track of each Weasley household member to simple hats, mittens, and scarves worn by students of the four Hogwarts' houses (knitting blogger Hansel even recommends specific colors and yarns for replicating house colors). Patterns indicate difficulty level, and many cover a wide span of sizes, from small child to adult XXL. While most of the projects have an unmistakable HP theme, many (e.g., the cabled mittens) can be enjoyed by those unfamiliar with the franchise. Enthusiastically recommended for most public libraries.

08/22/2009: I love this book! Like all Harry Potter fans, I'm entranced by anything Potter, and this does not disappoint. The layout is colorful and inspiring, the projects are easy to read and fun, and the difficulty rating system for "First Years" thru "N.e.w.t." (nasty exhausting wizarding test) are cute and very helpful. This book is one that you will not be sorry you bought - and a must for Potter fans, like me.

03/16/2009: This book is full of patterns for many of the items seen in the Harry Potter films. I find them charming, easy to follow and just what I was looking for. Each pattern has a short description of the item, where it was seen and who it was worn/used by.
