    Synopsis

Chess960 (aka Fischer Random Chess) is almost the same as traditional chess1. There is just enough difference that we can learn about each game by comparing them to each other. For instance, these comparisons have taught us that half the opening phase principles claimed by Aron Nimzovich in his "My System" apply just as well to chess960. However, the other half are found to be brittle and less worthy, as they fail when the initial position of the pieces behind the pawns is varied. There are many other discoveries from these comparisons. Each discovery described in this book deepens our understanding of chess in general, in ways that chess1 alone has not.
