    Synopsis

This massive one-volume text is derived from Resnick's five-volume Diagnosis of Bone and Joint Disorders, 4th ed.. Intended for residents and practitioners of radiology and orthopedics, the text presents the essential aspects necessary to interpret images of bone, joint, and soft tissue disorders. Initial sections describe basic anatomy and physiology, diagnostic techniques, and postoperative imaging, with the remainder of the text devoted to diseases of the musculoskeletal system. New to the third edition are sections on spinal interventional procedures, cartilage imaging, disorders of muscle, diagnostic ultrasonography, internal derangement of joints, target-area approach to articular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, and sports injuries. Increased emphasis is given to MR imaging. 2900 images, many of them new to this edition, illustrate the text. Resnick is chief of musculoskeletal imaging at the U. of California, San Diego; Kransdorf teaches radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
