Implants are increasingly used by the dental profession to replace missing teeth or upgrade existing removable dentures. CONTEMPORARY IMPLANT DENTISTRY, written by the foremost dental implantologist in the United States, reviews the most popular implant systems. This comprehensive book focuses on patient selection, diagnosis, treatment, and management, including long-term follow-up care. The book follows a practitioner's thought process when planning and implementing an implant placement. Featured in the book are anatomy, medical evaluation, interaction with specialists, and treatment complications.
This is the second edition of a text that has become the definitive dental implant textbook. The rapidly changing field of implant dentistry is well documented in this updated edition. This book comprehensively addresses the science and discipline of oral implantology. It is designed to present the thinking process of oral implantology. The increased documentation of this edition justifies why certain procedures are preferred over others and further solidifies implant dentistry as its own science within dentistry. This is the standard reference text for predoctoral students and beginning and seasoned practitioners, as well as specialists who want to broadenhis or her knowledge of all aspects of oral implantology. The author has been a leader in implant dentistry for over 20 years, and with this new edition further exemplifies his commitment to education in this area. This second edition is divided into four parts comprising 40 chapters. The four parts cover diagnosis and treatment planning, basic science, surgical aspects, and the restorative phase. This comprehensive content is achieved with nine contributing authors. The text uses primarily black-and-white plates and illustrations with many using the author's own commercial implant as an example, even with the absence of long term data on this new implant system. This will become the standard reference for the quickly changing field of implant dentistry. With its increased documentation and nine new chapters it is more than an update of the first edition. Few if any other texts can match this book for its comprehensive approach and documentation of the field.
