MacLachlan is the author of several books on Latin America, including Anarchism and the Mexican Revolution and Spain’s Empire in the New World.  He is John Christy Barr Distinguished Professor of History at Tulane University and has taught extensively on the history of Brazil and the environmental history of Latin America.
