    Synopsis

As a beleaguered galaxy fights its way back from the brink of destruction, the Jedi’s most fearsome enemy plots to end the war–and claim victory–with a final act of domination. . . .

The troubles for the embattled living planet Zonama Sekot have just begun. As Luke Skywalker and Jacen Solo negotiate its place in the galactic struggle against the Yuuzhan Vong, one of its organic ships is taken by the alien invaders. Scientist Nen Yim is ordered to use the captive to find weak spots in Zonama Sekot’s technology. But what Nen Yim discovers about the planet and its mysteries shocks her to the core. Clearly her people have gone terribly astray. For the peace-loving planet harbors not only the key to its own destruction, but the long-forgotten secrets of the Yuuzhan Vong themselves.

Meanwhile, General Wedge Antilles, commanding one fleet in a three-pronged campaign to retake the Bilbringi system, is suddenly stranded deep in Yuuzhan Vong space, cut off from all contact. Wedge and his ships must rely on trickery and brilliant battle tactics if they are to survive long enough to ensure the success of one of the deadliest and most crucial missions the Galactic Alliance forces
    have ever seen. . . .

April 20, 2006: Okay, I've read most of the NJO books. Unfortunately, not in order. One of the first five that I read was Star by Star. It WAS very sad! I did cry. And thought I wouldn't get over it. But I did! (And I should have read them in order). Anakin is my favorite character! And I still kinda think it's really lame of them that Anakin had to die! But his death was so final. You can't change that. And it goes against everything I believe in to think that he could come back to life! Sometimes, these books are just too much for me! The Vong are! If anyone had to have died, I would want it to have been Jaina. I liked her at first, but she eventually REALLY, REALLY got on my nerves. I know, now people are going to get mad at me for wanting her to be dead, but, like what Brian said, ?In this war, people die. . . .?. It?s not that I have anything against her . . . And after Anakin died, the series just sorta dragged on. I haven?t read this book, so, I just did a random rating. The book might be okay and it might not be. (I too, think the cover is ugly). And last, if Anakin had to die, it should have been later in the series. There are just way too many revolving around hardly anything with not a very good plot with some exciting moments ? but nothing better. I like the books and all, but they are not my favorite. So, if you haven?t read them, be cautious. If you have read them, that's cool! (Is this one any good?) But, if you are going to read them, read them in order!
