Audience:This book is written for patients with epilepsy and their family members. The author is a credible authority.
Features:The book provides a brief history of epilepsy and then covers the different types, the mechanisms, diagnosis and current medical and surgical treatment, and special situations, such as epilepsy in pregnant women, children, and the elderly. The book uses understandable language for the target audience. After reading this book, patients and their families will be educated about epilepsy.
Assessment:The book is well written and the content is concise and relatively complete. This is a good book for epileptic patients who want to know more about themselves and for families who have to care for their loved ones at home.
Dr. Donald Weaver is Professor of Neurology and Professor of Chemistry at Queen's University, in Kingston, Ontario, and is director of the university's Epilepsy Clinic. He has received the International Gower's Award from the British League against Epilepsy, the S. Weir Mitchell Award from the American Academy of Neurology and numerous other awards.

January 06, 2002: This book is easy to read and understand. It seemed to cover all aspects of epilepsy and answer all my questions with its current information. A child in our family has been diagnosed with absence seizures and I found this book to be very reassuring. I would highly recommend it to others.
