February 06, 2010: Without this guide, I would be lost, it really has helped me understand in detail the path that Frodo and the others followed on their adventures, how far they went each day or night, where they camped, what they saw, how the battles took place etc. Tolkien provides an enormous amount of detail about geography as well as detail about the settlements, cities and fortresses. While I am reading Lord of the Rings, I keep this atlas on my side in order to follow along in detail where they are and to visualize in my mind the entire scene in 3D. Also, many of the poems and songs contain so many place names and I can find these in the atlas. This atlas will also help me when I go on to read the Hobbit and the Simarllion. The maps are very big and easily readable and have a text that cross references with the books.

January 02, 2009: This book is just that, amazing. It blows my mind to think JRR Tolkien came up with all this stuff. (If only real atlases were this good). The Atlas of Middle Earth is as complete a collection of tolkien maps and data as you can get. You WILL love this book.
