February 21, 2006: Brilliant. A wonderfull Space Opera, that is surprisingly Hard Science. No Faster than light travel in this one ladies and gentlemen! No teleportation, no crazy wacky aliens, but still an amasing adventure story. This is the third in the series, but start with this one, the first two are not nearly interesting enough and their pace is rather slow, but this book is set 100 000 (or even more) years into the future and is clearly one of the most realistic visions of the far future that I have ever read. Oh by the way the rest of the series is a MUST after you read this one, the characters and story line really grows on you and the rest of the books are just as good if not even better.

A fascinating panoramic look at the far future and mankind's place in the center of the Galxy.by Anonymous

March 27, 2004: Great Sky Rive is a fascinating and panoramic view at a distant future and mankind's struggle to exist near the giant black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It is also the story of one ragtag band of nomadic cyborgs on the planet Snowglade. This band of nomads is on the run from the domination of a mechanical civilization devoted to wiping out humanity and sucking the natural resources of the planet dry. The focus of the story is on Kileen, and how he lost his father Abraham and his wife when their settlement was destroyed by the Mechs, and how he is told by a Electromagnetic life form to approach the center of the Great Sky River, a Hindu word for the Milky Way.That is fine but as of the moment Kileen is in the middle of becaoming the new leader of a small group of warriors and they do not have a chance of getting into space because traditionally the Mechs controlled Space. The rest of the story is about the struggle against to survive and get off the planet against all odds.
