July 11, 2009: In late 2005 I began to have problems at work when our Management changed due to a retirement. The problems were mostly silly, insignificant little things. As things got progressively worse, I knew something wasn't right. I typed in "bad bosses" on the internet and there it was--workplace bullying. That's how I found "The Workplace Bullying and Trauma Institute." I bought and read Dr Namie's book and I almost fell out of my chair. I began to highlight everything that I saw happening to me or other coworkers. There was no doubt about it. This arrogant, big-headed, egotistical man was a workplace bully who did not know how to draw the line between his job, which was ensuring the safety and security of inmates, employees, and civilians and the control he wanted over his employees' lives--at work and after work. Bottom line is he is an incompetent control freak and life is hell for all of us under his command. Dr Namie hit the nail on the head. Chief ***** has destroyed so many people's health, lives, and families and no one will stop him! My husband wants a divorce because he can't handle the mental trauma that this man has caused me. I can't get out because I've been blackballed by him and his Management Team. Evidently they aren't finished tormenting me. I have 4 years to retirement. I don't think I can make it.

May 04, 2008: I'm currently being bullied at work. I'm an award-winning journalist and photojournalist and was hired to be an asset to the newspaper. My abilities intimidated those around me who retaliated by bullying. Stunned by that, I found that the harder I worked, the more I was bullied! Dr.'s Nami are right. The best and the brightest, the nicest and most ethical employees are the targets for the cowardly, incompetent and lazy. The top ten bullying tactics bullies use are: 1. Blame for 'errors' 2. Unreasonable job demands 3. Criticism of Ability 4. Inconsistent compliance with rules 5. Threatens job loss 6. Insults and put-downs 7. Discounting and/or denial of accomplishments 8. Exclusion or 'icing out' 9. Yelling or screaming 10. Stealing credit I've experienced them all! I bet you have too or you wouldn't be looking at bullying books! Not only do the Nami's describe in detail how bullies operate and why they do what they do, he gives some great solutions and tactics targets 'victims' can use to stop the bullying. I've started a blog which references a lot of the things they say in this book, but I'm not the book. Buy this book if you or a child or friend or loved one of yours is being bullied. Subscribe to the free newsletters, visit his site, get involved. We CAN stop bullying and save lives. My blog is at stopworkplacebullies at blogspot. Start with this book and it will put the whole bullying thing into terms you can easily and quickly understand. I'm a writer by profession and this is well-written, easy to read. You can read one chapter, skip ahead to other parts or just reference it and it's all still good. Stop hurting. Get your dignity and peace of mind back. You are not the problem. BULLIES are!! I have been asked to testify before Congress next year about bullying in the media and I'm going to do it AND I'm going to mention this book as one of the top bullying books. It's THAT GOOD. Get it!
