    Synopsis

For generations, the Cave family has been marked by scandal, madness, and violence. But after earning a reputation for bravery in the army, Horatio Cave, the new Viscount Darien, has come home to charm London society and restore the family name. He means to start with the lovely Lady Thea Debenham.

The magnetism between them is immediate, but can Thea trust the dark, sexy "Vile Viscount"? And will Thea's brother Dare-the most dashing member of the Company of Rogues-believe that Horatio does not deserve the cursed Cave reputation?

    Kristin Ramsdell - Library Journal

Although Beverley's acclaimed "Company of Rogues" series officially ended when the last available rogue found his soul mate (in To Rescue a Rogue), this glittering world continues when Horatio Cave (pronounced Cahvay), the newly minted Viscount Darien and scion of the villainous Cave family, makes Lady Thea Debenham, a woman he has never met, an offer she can't refuse-a six-week public engagement in return for clearing her brother, Lord Dare, of cowardice at Waterloo. Darien is on a mission to redeem his family's reputation, and an alliance, if only temporary, with Lady Thea is all part of his well-laid plan. But it doesn't go the way he expects. Overflowing with familiar characters and rich with backstory, this romance, enjoyable despite the annoying similarity of the names of the hero and the heroine's brother, will appeal primarily to fans of the series. Canada-based Beverley is an exceptional writer, and new readers are likely to enjoy some of the earlier "Rogues" books before trying this one.

May 24, 2008: I have read almost all of Jo Beverley's books. This last one was absolutely wonderful. All of my favorite characters. I loved both Lady Thea and Lord Darien. I hope she keeps them coming.

September 05, 2007: I am surprised by the poor performance, and disappointed that Jo Beverly has no fire left in the burner. This story was a waste of money and time. I read her Malloren series and loved them. Since then, there have been a string of horrid novels. For shame...
