      Annotation

Note to Adobe Customers: The Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader version is printable, but there is a known problem printing to printers that do not use the PostScript page description language. This problem occurs with some HP LaserJet, Epson Stylus inkjet, and Epson impact printers. Consult your printer’s documentation to find out if it is PostScript compatible. This does not affect your ability to read the book on screen.

      Biography

"Words -- so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them," Nathaniel Hawthorne once reflected. Hawthorne's own words indeed had an undeniable power. Author of The Scarlet Letter and originator of the American short story, Hawthorne left an indelible impression on literature that would influence his fellow writers into the next century.

November 21, 2009: I had read the book before but then my class at school needed to nread it. Of course I forgot little details, so I got this and it helped refreash my memory so much!! Apparently I didn't read the last three chapters, but this helped me learn what happened and got me a "A" on the test (no pun intended haha)!

November 15, 2009: When you have a book like the Scarlet Letter that is hard to follow then having the SparkNotes for it is a great idea. And this is coming from the viwe of someone in high school. My teacher was the onw who told us to get it to help undersatand the book (just don't read it inseat of the book or understanding the book will not be easy). And it really does help. If you read it before and after you read the chapter then it could really help you understand the book.
