January 04, 2008: Just read the actual books. It would be worth it a lot more.

May 23, 2005: If you want a laugh, read this. If you want to learn about Harry Potter, read the actual books. I purchased this book, not to study the works, but to see how well the authors of this guide read the books. Imagine my astonishment when the writers screwed up simple facts. Never mind that they called some important characters 'mediocre.' I also purchased the Sparknotes for the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. Both of those were disappointing as well. Sparknotes editors, if you read this, please find authors who have actually read the titles they are condensing for study. Sparknotes/Cliffs Notes/similar works are not a replacement for reading the works, but should at the very least accurately portray the characters and the storyline, not belittle it. Save the money for Galadriel Water's books or the Harry Potter titles themselves.
