June 13, 2009: Julius Caesar is difficult enough to read for the average reader but for a student with learning disabilities it can be pure torture. It had been a long time since I had read the play so I wasn't much help to my 16-year-old learning disabled son until I purchased this book. The writing is too sophisticated for him but it helped me immensely in understanding the play so that I could in turn help him understand it. In high school I was told that books like this were like cheating yourself out of the fullness of what you were reading and I believed it so I stuck to the original books and plays; however, I was an above average learner without the distraction of any learning disabilities. Today I believe that books like this one can help those struggling readers to enjoy classics like Julius Caesar -- plays they would ordinarily give up on. This was a fantastic tool for me in refreshing my recall of the play and in helping my son. I wouldn't give it to the high school student to read because it's still very sophisticated in its writing but it's a very useful help to the parent.
