    Synopsis

Set in lush 17th-century Ireland, this passionate tale is part of Jo Beverley's wildly popular Company of Rogues series.

Beverley is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of over 20 historical romances and the winner of five RITA Awards. In this sizzling tale, young Miles Cavanagh becomes the improbable guardian to Felicity Monahan, a wealthy, headstrong heiress who seems set on marrying an unscrupulous cad who clearly only wants to wed Felicity for one reason-and that reason is not love.

    Annotation

Felicity is a rebellious heiress with a terrible secret. Miles is her unwanted guardian, a man of seductive power and dangerous sensuality. When they come together one night, what begins as a charade borne of desperation turns into an illicit liason. And soon one man's dark treachery will drive the pair of lovers to risk the unthinkable. Original.

December 30, 2005: I have read all of the Rogue novels and their adjuncts and find this one to be the weakest of them all. Taken as a group, the Rogue novels tell a fabulous story and build characters that are among the best in Regency fiction. Miles, the protagonist in this novel, actually comes off much better in some of the other books and Felicity, who seems so enigmatic in Forbidden, is too flat here. I do love the heroic feline though.
