This top-selling series introduces the wild creatures of the world and examines the natural world. Good general introductions for ages 10+, these volumes contain the knowledge, personal experiences, and research of leading naturalists and scientists, accompanied by stunning photography. Unless otherwise noted (
*), all volumes are sturdy paperback.
(YA) --These excellent resources include everything students will need for reports: distribution, biology, behavior, historical background, conservation techniques, and future trends. All of these topics are covered in the clear, easy-to-read texts. The books are lavishly illustrated with more than 50 full-color photographs that bring these animals to vibrant life. The authors are all leading experts in their fields. Unfortunately, Humpback Whales and Tigers have no index or bibliography. They do have a short fact sheet with a recommended reading list. Despite these flaws, these titles will be well used for research and enjoyed as general reading. --Robin Deffendall, Prince William Public Library System, VA
