      Synopsis

How One Family Survived the Unthinkable

The murder of an innocent tourist in the Bahamas in 1980 begins a story that continues to play itself out in it's effects on the family for years to come. They must face addiction and financial struggle. And later, the pain of watching an innocent child suffer with a disease that no one in the family had ever heard of. Strength was what had to develop in order to survive.

But time and again they were able to overcome the sadness and find their way to laughter and joy and acceptance with the strength that is found in the love of family and friends. Forgetting the Hurt, Remember the Hope was intended as a tribute to a man who died too young to meet his potential and ended up being a tribute to two men who died too young to meet their potential. And also, a tribute to the survivors for finding the joy of life by not succumbing to the devastation.

The story is told from several perspectives. Each person who added to the story had a story of his or her own to tell. Each told that story with his or her own voice. And though the facts are devastating, the overwhelming conclusion is one of hope that results by having endured the worse that can happen and surviving it.

July 14, 2008: The strength of this Woman has been an inspiration to me for many years. She is admired by many and given hope to even more. Life is full of pitfalls, she illustrates the Endurance it takes to climb out. It is a wonderful read one that I will give to many that find themselves feeling sorry for themselves or believing life isn't worth liveing. By her testimony, she is our guide out of hopelessness. I will treasure it always
