      Synopsis

Pass the LEED AP Exam, Get your building LEED Certified, Fight Global Warming and Save Money!

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most important trend of development and it is revolutionizing the construction industry. It has gained tremendous momentum and has a profound impact on our environment.

From this book, you will learn how to

      1. Pass LEED AP exam.
      2. Register and certify a building for LEED certification.
      3. Understand the intent for each LEED prerequisite and credit.
      4. Calculate points for LEED credit.
      5. Identify the responsible party for each prerequisite and credit.
      6. Earn extra credit (Exemplary Performance) for LEED.
      7. Implement the local codes and building standards for prerequisite and credit.
      8. Get points for categories not yet clearly defined by USGBC.

Most of the existing books on LEED and LEED AP are too expensive and too complicated to be practical and helpful. This pocket guide demystifies LEED and uncovers the secrets, codes and jargons for LEED as well as the true meaning of "going green." It will set up a solid foundation and fundamental framework of LEED for you. It covers every aspect of LEED-NC in plain and concise language, and introduces it to ordinary people. This pocket guide is small and easy to carry around.

You can read it whenever you have a few extra minutes. It is an indispensable book for ordinary people, developers, contractors, architects, landscape architects, civil, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers, interns, drafters, designers and other design professionals.

POORLY EDITED version of information you can get for FREE online!by Anonymous

June 01, 2009: I definitely regret buying this book. It is so poorly edited that it is distracting, with spelling and grammatical errors on nearly every page. After I began using the book, I read through the reference guide and did some simple internet research. I quickly realized that through sites like intheleed.com and Learning to LEED, you can get spreadsheets and well-organized notes that will provide you with the same or more information than this book- for free! Also, the practice exam at the end of the book merely changes the numbers or wording of questions from the USGBC website for many of its questions.

Good Information but needs SERIOUS editingby Anonymous

March 19, 2009: I like the book and I think its a great way to study for the LEED AP exam NC 2.2. You can go through the credits very fast and its a great aid in memorizing all of the categories. So on that bases I think its a very valuable book and alot easier to absorb than just using the reference manual.

However, the book is very poorly edited to the point where its a major distraction. Almost every pages has typos including simple misspellings any spell check would have picked up. And because parts are repeated and obviously copy pasted per credit the same typos occur copied in similar sections.

Im only half way through it Ive seen some major errors as well that arent just grammer or spelling based. In the section of SS credits 6.1 and 6.2 they're both titled quality control while the first one should be quantity control. And in the MR section while its explained in the reading on the summary section an entire credit MR c1.3 is left off of the summary chart.

The formating is also very distracting. Paragraphs are stretched to fit areas of page so some sections the words have one space between them and some sections words have 10 spaces between them.

Its great if you're using the USGBC manual along with this and can recognize mistakes in editing. If you dont reference it to another source you may be confused at points.

Overall the way it makes you study I think is great, but the format is very rough draft like. Its hard to take a book thats supposed to help you study seriously when there are so many mistakes in it that make you question its validity. If the book had some SERIOUS editing done I would give it a 5/5.
