This is the first volume in a series exploring Eurasia's new security environment. It examines not only traditional political and military concerns, but also economic, ethnic, and environmental issues, and the role of crime, terrorism, the drug trade, and migration in the security environment of Russia and its neighbors to the west. International contributors take account of both internal and external aspects of security problems and their interplay. The editor is a member of the Yabloko Party in the Russian State Duma and is Deputy Chairman of the Duma's Defense Committee. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
