October 06, 2008: Such a unique perspective on an event that hit so close to home! I did not know what to expect from a fictional account of events that were so recent and tragic, but Braun's story was compelling and unpredictable. Jim, the main character, had a sarcastic sense of humor that made me laugh out loud (and made him truly believable as someone from the NY/NJ area). How he dealt with life after 9/11 illustrates that not everyone has moved on. I sympathized with Jim as the wonderful life he had before September 11th unraveled before his eyes.

September 11, 2008: Do you really want to buy a book entitled 'Paranoia'? If you read it on the train will people look at you funny? Maybe talk about you behind your back? It's time to overcome your fears and buy this book -- you'll be very glad you did! As a nation, the events of 9/11 shook us right to the core. For some the reverberations struck right down to the foundations upon which we build our lives -- Friends & Family, Faith, Safety & Security, and Peace of Mind. The protagonist, Jim, has lost all this and more. This is the story of one man's struggle to take back what the terrorists stole from him on that fateful day. PTSD is a very difficult topic to write about and the tone of the novel could easily have become dark and brooding. But because JE Braun handles the subject with great such sensitivity and even a little self-deprecating humor, the tone is up-lifting and encouraging. We see a little bit of Jim in all of us, which has us cheering him on as he fights to overcome his fears. An excellent read, not to be missed!
