      Synopsis

In this wonderful collection, noted theologian Dr, John Baillie offers personal prayers for people who are seeking a better understanding of God and themselves. Intermingling adoring and meditative thoughts about God with a concern for the social and individual good, these daily invocations help and inspire us to search our inner selves and find the deep religious beliefs that lie within.

July 20, 2003: My father was first given a copy of this little book by a missionary friend in 1959 and carried it with him constantly. I received a copy from him and it has been at my bedside for 20 years. Somehow the spirit and depth of Baille's prayers pass beyond the burden of the classical 'thy' and 'thou' that he uses, to capture the deepest essence of meaningful prayer life. I have subsequently passed on many copies of this book to others, all with uniform delight.
