      Synopsis

The main purpose is to preserve the rich history of the development and the growth of the places of worship in the Northwest. This book is the result of over 6 years of study and documentation.

Since the beginning of time, men worshipped a Supreme Being. It is our intent to document the development of religion and the spread of the Gospel throughout the region.

Our research covers three main interests:

      1. Historians: Persons interested in the historic development of a segment of society that is not well known.
      2. Theologians: How and when the settlers began to worship at a certain location.
      3. Architects and Designers: In the construction of the early buildings used for worship, many interesting designs were used.

The geographic area covered by this research is the Northwest, including the States of Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

In most cases the stories as written, are exact duplications of the information provided by the churches, in order to capture the flavor of the people attending that church.

Some information was obtained, with permission, from museums and newspaper clippings provided by local historians.

It is our hope and prayer that this book will again reinforce our belief that the church will be here until the end of time, and the words spoken by our Lord to Peter that, "The gates of hell will not prevail against it."
