    Synopsis

An inspiring memoir from a Red Sox hero and MVP of the 2007 World Series.

In 2007, Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell triumphed over a lifetime of adversity when he led the world’s most zealously followed baseball team to the promised land, with their second World Series title in four years. But there was much more to the story than what happened on that October night.

From his family’s battle to escape Cuba and the Castro regime, to the ups and downs of his baseball career, to his battle with testicular cancer, this is the story of a man who overcame every challenge thrown at him to become one of the best third basemen in baseball— and a true role model for his millions of fans.

“Mike Lowell is such an honest man, a man who plays the game hard, and plays the game right, the whole time.”—Manny Ramirez

April 08, 2009: Deep Drive by Mike Lowell is a great book. Two World Series rings, one World Series MVP, and a few golden gloves all belong to mike Lowell. He's one of the most well respected players in pro baseball. He is highly regarded by his whole team "Mike Lowell is such an honest man, a man who plays the game hard, and plays the game right, the whole time. He is the kind of teammate you love to have around you everyday"- former red sox WS MVP outfielder Manny Ramirez. He is well known throughout the baseball world as a great fielding, power hitting 3rd baseman. There's more to him than being a great player. He overcame testicular cancer. He overcame his father's Cuban background and racism that came with it. But still he has become one of best 3rd basemen in Red sox history and led the 2003 Florida Marlins and the 2007 Red Sox to two World series victories one over the Yankees (with the Marlins because the Red sox and Yankees are in the same division) and one over the Colorado Rockies. I think this is a great read because I personally love baseball and mike Lowell is my favorite player and a member of my favorite team, if you are a Lowell fan or a red sox fan, or a baseball player or any athlete you will love this story.

June 14, 2008: This book was absolutely amazing and I recommend it to everyone! If you weren't a Mike Lowell fan before reading this (can't imagine that you would not be), you certainly will be after you finish. This shows a side of Mike that is truly amazing. What respect and admiration I have for him now as a person as well as a player. What a gentleman he is. What better person to have representing the game and being a role model!!
