April 11, 2007: Beautiful Violet, the daughter of Sadie Welsh, former mistress of Phillip Durbin, Viscount Kelly, known as Lord Kelly, to look at her is to fall in love with her. Unkown to Lord Kelly, his former mistress Sadie Welsh, was pregnant when he stopped having her as his mistress, as he was beginning to fall in love with her, and lords just didn't marry their mistress. At the age of 14, Violet was forced to become the mistress of Sadie's lover, as Sadie was becoming too old for Alex Shackel and wanted Violet. After Lord Kelly and Sadie met again, they realized they were still in love. They proceeded to wed and Lord Kelly did acknowledge and adopt Violet. Violet didn't have a lot of friends but she was very happy with her mother and father and would never do anything to dishonor Lord Kelly's name. However, it was known to all that Violet had a past and no nobleman would want her as a wife. One of her few friends, Jared professed his love for her and wanted to marry her, however, Violet just didn't love him. Jared's uncle the haughty Duke of Hawkinston, known as Hawk, forbids Jared to marry Violet. Hawk went to the same dance that Violet and her family were hosting, in order to meet her. One look at Violet then Hawk knew that he had to have her as his mistress. So mesmerized was he, that he couldn't help himself but ask her. Of course, she did say no, as she had promised Lord Kelly that she would never dishonor his name. Violet finds that she has an attraction to Hawk also and decides that she has to take care when around him. Hawk hosts a huge ball at his castle and invites Violet and her family to stay as some of the guests. Cade Souten, is at the ball also, and he is obsessively in love with Violet. As the plot thickens and Violet get kidnapped, Sadie gets sick and needs to see a doctor. KNOWN TO ALL is a nice blend of romance and mystery in one book. Author Gloria Gay has done a nice job with this.
