September 04, 2007: A winner! That little touch of horror added to a complex mystery makes for an exciting and tension-filled read. When you pick up this book, make sure you have locked all your doors and the lights are on. You'll need that extra feeling of security when the building creaks unexpectedly and you might even hear hollow footsteps on the stairs. Detective Bobby Beckett and her partner Dan Goodson become involved in another series of unpleasant murders that hint of a possible serial killer, even though one of the victims is a man. Their problems are multiplied when they find differences in each murder and no apparent motive. Journalist August Summers rides with the two-detectives as they follow up leads. While they are busy doing their job, August makes use of the time to search for evidence on her own. An attempt to kill them nearly disrupts the investigation. Is it related? The cast of characters will keep you guessing at what will happen next. Edge-of-the-seat reading. Highly recommended to keep your attention to the end. You'll be looking for the next book in this series by very talented Dana Reed. Enjoy. I certainly did.
