April 14, 2007: ?Like lovers, criminals and their victims always have something in common,? (Sticks Hetrick) When a disembodied head is discovered on a widow?s porch retired Police Chief Daniel ?Sticks? Hetrick offers his services to Swarata Creek?s less than effective police department. Sticks knows it will take more than the current chief can do to find out who the beheaded woman was, how she was killed, why she was killed, and who killed her. The small Pennsylvania community seems barely aware of the murder-after all she wasn?t local. But someone in Swatara Creek knew her one of them killed her one of them has a secret. John Lindermuth weaves his rich characters into a tapestry of mystery and surprises. He?s sure who the killer is, but can he prove it? An excellent read. Review by Wanda C. Keesey
