Despite her parents’ desire for her to stay home and help run the family business, Iona Stonefinder yearns for the exciting, adventurous, and sometimes dangerous life as a Protector of Klairn. Against their wishes, she competes in and makes the finals in the Olympic-like Protector Trials. September 05, 2003: Protectors of Klairn, by Erin Elders was innovative and refreshing. She paints a picture of a world that lives and breathes and you feel like you are right there with Iona, the main character. Even through the last pages, the story kept me going. May 03, 2003: The commune with nature and absolutes of self-awareness portrayed are highly commendable. The spirit of tenacity and survival, yet gentleness and understanding in the midst of this nature setting are gracious and empowering. Thanks to the author for her willingness to stand up for our true environmental needs. - author, Stephanie S. Sawyer, FACING ME
