October 04, 2004: At the young age of 17, Jeannie moves to her horse ranch and begins to live her dream, with the help of Slim, her ranch foreman. Changes take place in Jeannie's life over the next three years. Her best friend, Helga, marries Billy Joe and becomes a teacher. Jeannie faces the loss of a loved one, then has to decide what to do about the oil found on her property. She receives two marriage proposals, which is surprising to Jeannie, who has been concentrating on running her horse ranch and nothing else. Water is now pumped into houses and automobiles travel horse trails. Oil has brought wealth to some landowners, and their small community has turned into a bustling town. The world seems to be moving forward at a fast pace for Jeannie, who is content to live on her horse ranch and work at increasing her horse breeding business. The last in the Jeannie series, this book will bring tears and laughter but leave the reader with that warm, comforting feeling of having visited with an old friend. An outstanding series for adult and child alike, filled with characters who have become family, with plenty of warmth and love, and rounded out with enough historical information to edify while entertain. Highly recommended.

March 12, 2004: In Jeannie, Book Three, Jeannie and her friends are getting older and they're thinking more of boys, marriage, and what the future will hold. Jeannie's best friend Helga has been seeing Billy Joe for a while and their big news was when Helga is old enough, he was going to ask for her hand in marriage. Jeannie was taken aback at this news, but of course was happy for her friend. Even though Jeannie herself wouldn't marry young, or maybe not even at all, it was expected in the 1800s. Jeannie's brother Henry and his long-time sweetheart also got married and were expecting a baby soon. At sixteen, Jeannie was going to be an aunt. Her dream of owning a horse ranch was also coming true when Helga's father, Mr, Markham, was selling off some of his land. Jeannie bought the land and was planning on asking Slim to be her foreman. Will this stir up more feelings between Jeannie and Slim? This is just a few of the events going on in West Texas with Jeannie and her friends and family. If you've already read the first two books in the series, you must continue with Book Three. This gang is growing up fast and before you know it, they'll be leading separate lives, but hopefully remaining friends. Lisa - Editor http://www.bookreviewcafe.com
