      Synopsis

Cold River: a survivor's story is about man's desire for freedom during a time when none existed. Jozef describes the village in which he grew up with such emotion and sadness that the reader can hear the snow crunching beneath his expectant mother's feet as she makes her way through the snow drifts.

This story is fact, not fiction, when you are finished you will know what it is like to taste freedom for the first time. And perhaps feel pain of its cost.

February 18, 2009: Jozef Imrich's story is powerful, it is a story of a hero or rather heros (Joef, Ondrej, Milan) Ondrej and Milan did not make it sadly but they were part of the race to escape..

Jozef Imrich articulates timeless emotions that exists today in the captalist and global regime. Feeling frustated and unable to act because of fear and powerful forces that are bearing down on you and where one is simply a cog in the wheel of system that is run for the few that wield power. Freedom of mind and body...

The story is a rich and colourfultapestry of many coloured threads under the communist regime - childhood, family, social, economic, political. His story of shows that humor shows up many deficts and defects and is a great weapon of attack

I enjoyed this trip with Jozef across the Cold River...

April 08, 2006: A rich, rewarding life often requires a messy battle with adversity ... Some books are merely important. Cold River is necessary. Sentence by sentence, Jozef Imrich?s story remind us of what matters most - An Unconditional Freedom. Cold River does what good memoirs do. When we look up, bitten, everything seems a little different ... Not of ourselves are we free. Not of ourselves are we strong. Power must be dispersed the reality of Cold River says, not so much because everyone is always good, but because when power is concentrated some people tend to become extremely evil.
