March 29, 2009: ACCORDING TO GROVER, is a compilation of short stories dealing with life in 1940's and '50's America. The characters are based on real people. Some are still living. Others passed away many years ago taking their own experiences with them. Kudos to Bob Hull for resurrecting them in his book. Because the characters in this book were based on actual persons, who had lived in Lock Haven, PA and the surrounding areas, they are very relatable to anyone, who was raised in small town America. This country is comprised mostly of small towns such as this.
ACCORDING TO GROVER is appealing to both younger and older readers. This book allows those of us, who did not have the privilege to have been born in this era to have a glimpse of what life was like before television, the internet, and two income families had come into existance. For those readers, who can remember the era, it is an affirmation of a simpler life that exists only in their memories. ACCORDING TO GROVER is highly recommended. It is entertaining as well as uncomplicated and is easily enjoyed by all. The pictures and illustrations are an added bonus. Get this book!!!!!Reader Rating:
