      Synopsis

Immaculate White Smoke started out to be comedy but soon took on a form of an inspirational novel. It is about the fight between good and evil. There were two words which kept changing my story-"what" and "if." Put them together with a question mark-"what if (blank)?"-and you have the beginning of how a novel takes on its on personality. I tried to look into the heart of each character, and what I found there was like a novel within a novel. Immaculate White Smoke is a story of hope when there seems to be no hope. That is what faith is all about.

April 11, 2007: I, as a lover of ghost stories found Immaculate White Smoke to be one that kept me wondering what would happen next. Although this, is a ghost story it?s a love story ? a novel within a novel. The ghosts and the demonic being in this book haunt their subjects within the confines of the novel within a novel. It sounds confusing, but its not. A young newlywed couple move into the house and the husband finds a strange glowing book, which tells the tale of another newlywed couple who deal with the haunting with a spiritual twist ? good v/s evil. Immaculate White Smoke portrays it?s ghosts as Arty the gunslinger from the old west and his barroom sweetheart, Andorra. The gunslinger is a sweet uneducated cowboy prankster, and his barroom gal has unfulfilled dreams of a quiet life on a farm. Arty made the deal. Andorra remained silent, turning the deal with the devil into something else all together. The bargain for their very souls is not set in stone. Thus, the twist comes into play in their haunting game. Mordrad, the demon rules the haunting game, and they must drive the owners of the farm house out or be thrown into outer darkness. Let?s not give away the rest of the story, but let me tell you it?s a very good read ? imaginative, suspenseful and funny. Immaculate White Smoke would make a great family film. I?m looking forward to reading the sequel. Well-done Lew!

April 01, 2006: Immaculate White Smoke by Lew Duffey If you enjoy a mystery story with a spiritual twist, as well as an intriguing novel within a novel to make you think and use your imagination, Immaculate White Smoke by Lew Duffey is the one for you. The story gets off to a fast start and stays that way right to the end with cowboys, ghosts, and a loving couple who have to deal with both while remodeling their new home. When one discovers a secret book in the attic, it takes them on a wild journey into the next life and beyond and changes the couple?s life forever. If you have wondered about such things as bi- location, levitation, or spiritual encounters, there is plenty of mystique in this book as well to entertain you. Lighthearted in its mood, Immaculate White Smoke has yet a deeper meaning. It describes a condition in which two people, while out of their bodies, learn to communicate with one another, make ?love? by entering another?s space, and finally, through an encounter with an ?angel? challenge and change their destiny as revealed to them by a spirit one could only call a ?devil? by any other name. Can two people influence the lives of the living for good or evil after death? This is something to wonder about. Lew Duffey takes us on a journey to find out. This is a book that can be read by young people or by adults who enjoy inspirational fiction. In fact, this reader believes it would make a great movie for the general public as it stays within the boundaries for such films without becoming either mundane or overly pedantic.
