His one salvation is his love for Miriam, whose three year old daughter was raped and brutally murdered by an OxyContin addict. As skilled with his pen as he is in his profession, Everett Beal has masterfully told a captivating tale of intrigue, mystery and danger that has its dark side leavened by the love and courage of a couple who struggle against an overwhelming tide of greed and terrorism.Biography
W. Everett Beal, R.Ph., was born in Valdosta, Georgia, and has lived in the South all of his life. In addition to being a professional pharmacist, the owner of two pharmacies, sportsman, and outdoor writer, he appeared on nine television shows, had his own radio show and acted in two movies. As well as being the author of Southern Winds, he has written and published more than five-hundred stories in newspapers and magazines.
When Dr. Beal retired, he moved to the northeast Georgia Mountains in Dillard and Sky Valley where he and his wife, Judy, lived for sixteen years. He owned and operated The Merry Christmas Shop in the Georgia Mountains. They now live back in Griffin, Georgia.
Having thirty years of experience in the pharmaceutical field, Doc Beal said, "I want to open the eyes of America and let people know they are in trouble. Drug addiction is happening everywhere. December 08, 2005: Ev Beal, relying on his long experience in the pharmacy industry, has turned it to good advantage in this espionage/thriller-type novel. The book is fast-paced, sometimes too fast which is the only complaint I have, and the characters are far more believeable than the typical protagonists and antagonists you'd find in similar works. The folks in this book are real people. Simply put. You're not going to find flying cars, laser wrist watches and micro-nukes in a shoe sole. You are going to find a solid and believeable plot with no need to rely on Science Fiction type devices to cover up where the writer's narrative abilities fall down. It's a sad indictment of ths nation that it takes a work of near-fiction to expose the world of illegal pharmacopia and the designer drug market. This is not the kind of thing you're going to read about in your morning paper, even though it happens in every community across the nation. Beal's work, unfortunately, will be one of those books that never gets the serious consideration and treatment it deserves. Why? Because he hits too close to home exposing a dark side of society we choose to ignore.

November 08, 2005: This book did more than wake me up to a lot of what has been going on around me that I was not aware of. It made me stop and look at medications that my doctor and the hospital recommended that I take during my recovery from double knee replacements. The hospital staff was amazed that I refused to use the morphin drip that I was provided. I hate pills completely so I opted not to take any pain killers, but to deal with the pain in other ways and thru prayer. I realized it would have been easy to become addicted to those medications as I have seen others do. Luckily for me I had an example to give me extra drive, my own sister. I wish she had a chance to read this book before she was taken from me because of an overdose. I feel that Mr Beal's book would have made her see what she was doing to herself. Maybe if she had the insight that I got from this book, she would still be with me. Thank you Mr. Beal for making me see the world around me a lot clearier. You are an awesome author. I look forward to more of your work.
