October 23, 2002: This book of poetry is about two cities: NY and Sanibel. Pacheco's images of growing up in NYC as a Nuyorican are vivid; he talks about how he got his name, his first haircut, his brother going to war, his grandmother and much more. The Sailing to Sanibel section contrasts his early days as a Nuyorican with his life in retirement on Sanibel Island. I enjoyed this book so very much...with laughter and tears!
